The Photographs pf Charles Duvelle - Charles Duvelle / Ocora Records
Disques Ocora is the renowned French label dedicated to documenting music and sound cultures from around the world. Founded in 1958 by Pierre Schaeffer, its legacy is closely tied to the pioneering field recordings, photography, and design of composer and musicologist Charles Duvelle. This 296-page fine-art book brings together Duvelle’s field photography from 1959 to 1978, alongside an in-depth interview with him by Hisham Mayet on the history and practice of field recording. The volume is accompanied by two CDs of archival recordings, including previously unreleased material, and is beautifully produced in tribute to Ocora’s distinctive design tradition.
